What are landing pages?
It’s where someone “lands” after they click a link.
There are two types of landing pages:
1. Internal Landing Pages: a page on your website. An example is when you link to your email blast.

Example: linking email blasts to "offer specific" pages.
2. External Landing Pages: information about you, but on another website. An example is an industry directory.
External landing pages provide three benefits:
1. They deliver visitors to your website. With thousands of pages, online directories achieve high search positions in search engines. Sometimes higher than a company’s own website.
2. They build your credibility and serve as an endorsement. They tell someone that you are committed to that industry.
3. They are an inexpensive form of online advertising. Most directories charge a flat monthy or annual rate.
Landing Pages Improve Your Advertising ROI |
|
| Situation | How to Use a Landing Page |
|---|---|
| Links in your email | Where to go for more details. If selling a product, what is the benefit, and how to buy it. |
| Advertising on other websites | Describe in more detail the “offer” in your banner ad, Google Adword buy, etc. |
| Industry Directories | Provide information specific to the audience this website serves. Make sure it links to your website. |
If you send someone to your ‘home page’ and don’t tell them what to do, don’t expect great results from your marketing program.
Five Things Every Good Landing Page Has:
1. Statistic tracking. A way to measure the number of visitors and the actions they take.
2. A “static”, not dynamic web address (URL). The location of static pages do not change. Links will always work and you can forward domain names to these addresses.
3. Relevance. Match the content to where people are coming from.
4. SEO (search engine optimization) features. This is how search engines find pages.
5. Links to more information. Once you get someone there they may have more questions.
